/me downloads stuff to prettify his desktop with for tonight's screenshot Have NetSurf in the background There won't be room; I'm gonna do it 800x600 (or grab a smaller piece of desktop from a larger res screen) to keep the download times down |

After I've done the site update next week to rectify the writing, I'll post something to AA and csaa about the site; obviously, Surgeon will get pride of place
I think we should announce the competiton in two/three weeks - I was going to suggest leaving all AA/csaa postings until then, but it would be nice for people who don't know to have a chance to play Asylum and mess around with Surgeon *before* the competition is announced; people might feel they haven't had enough time to get to grips with it all, otherwise, and not bother.
EDIT: speling

BTW, what is he best way to make a new level? It would be good if you could just make a new application directory called ![newlevel] and stick it in the Asylum application directory, with !Ego, !Id and !Psyche. Also, is it possible to make a new level that has it's own custom border graphic and character graphic?
Cheers,
Mike |

I'll leave it to to advise on that one Also, is it possible to make a new level that has it's own custom border graphic and character graphic? You can do this with nobrainer. |

Yes; but is it possibe to make a new level file that links explicitly to a certain border graphic and character graphics, without changing the default ones used by !Ego, !Id and !Psyche? |

BTW, what is he best way to make a new level? It would be good if you could just make a new application directory called ![newlevel] and stick it in the Asylum application directory, with !Ego, !Id and !Psyche. There is support for a fourth level in some versions of Asylum (definitely the new ones, not sure about the old). Using, say, !Ego as a template, create a new level called !Extend, modifying !Boot, !Run, etc. IIRC when playing the Extend level it defaults to the Ego music; replacing the music in !Extend has no effect. Also I'm not sure how it effects the high scores; at some point in the future I'll sort out a proper way of loading extra levels*
Also, is it possible to make a new level that has it's own custom border graphic and character graphic? Well you can replace those files, but they will affect the whole game instead of just one level. Eventually you should be able to do them per-level though.
* - Just thought of a good idea. When Asylum is loaded on the icon bar, I could have it so that dragging a level application/directory to the icon will set that level to be the Extend level.

Will that require a new version of Asylum or just a alteration of Sergeon?* - Just thought of a good idea. Would that allow levels to have any name or would they still have to be called !Extend? |

I have a small suggestion for Surgeon:
It would be great is there was an option on the iconbar icon called "Help", which would load the StrongHelp manual. |

Nice idea! Would that allow levels to have any name or would they still have to be called !Extend? They should be able to have any name; all it would do is set the PsychoExtend$ variables to point to whatever application you drag to the icon. In fact, you could do a similar thing now - modify the extra level's !Run file to set the path variables, remove the !Boot, and call the directory whatever you want. That way you could have loads of them, and just double-click on the one you want to use. |

It needs to look a bit smarter, and sleeker. I'll do the rewrite first, though. |

Google used to have proper Asylum pages; what I think it does is put all new pages in for a while, then takes them out, and then finally puts them back in again. It should be OK in a couple of weeks. No idea why it does this, though |
