Incidentally, isn't it odd that the one on the Kosovo CD is the old version of Asylum? :|

BTW, Michael, where did you get your version?

Psycore :) It also says that they no longer exist, and their PO Box number fails... :o

Acorn Gaming's database says that Psycore (makers of Revolver and Big Bang) no longer exist. There London PO Box 3837 now fails. :(

I got mine from the Kosovo CD. It is verion 2 but the info box still says verion 1. Version 2 is on the 1st Arc World CD and the Kosovo CD. (I just checked.) Also they both have the same number for bytes when you count on their application directories.

I've got the hi-res Oddball demo :) Just wondered if there was a hi-res Asylum one... got a low-res one.
Hi-res? Do you mean a Mode 49-er, with the same chunky graphics, or one with more and smaller pixels on screen?

Mode 49-er. I know hi-res is a bad phrase, but I couldn't think of another one. Although Mode 49-er would have done it. Ahem.

Can we get some MP3s of the music on the site? :E

I did that last week. I accidentally sat on them, so that they were incredibly lopsided. When I got them, I made them slightly lopsided to counteract the position of my ears, but this was too much and in the wrong direction.

I stood on them last week :| They were tiled forward, but usable; but then the arm started giving trouble...

Hmmm; I'm wondering whether to make this Asylum website very simple and Asylum like, to evoke the spirit of the game, or whether to make it all smart and modern :P

Me likes it so far. Use the style of the original game as much as possible.

Good plan :) I intend to use that font that's used in all Gamesuite games a lot more.

I'm gonna split it into three different sections; Asylum, Oddball, and Gamesuite :)

I *think* they were the only commercial ones. There's an unfinished 3rd game in the final release of Gamesuite...

I'm sure there were plenty of games that used GameSuite. Bunny Race, for example, used the FastSpr module.

/me has been busy.

I checked the Big Bang and Revolver demos on both the Kosovo CD and the origonal Arc. World cover discs (may 1995 and nov. 1995 respectivly) and neither of them contain ant info about who the author was.

Big Bang and Revolver were reviewed in Acorn User issues 154 and 163 respetivly. The reviews give no details about the author except that they are by Psycore and the duff PO Box address.

However, I did find out that Andy Southgate was interviewed in Acorn User issue 157. Also, Oddball is reviewed in issue 154. D'yah want page numbers. :E

Oops - forgot to mention an Oddball cheat in AU issue 159.

"If you'd like to start the game on a different level, try typing the command:

*SetEval OddballCheat

followed by the level number to jump to that screen. If that's not enough, try selecting the instructions page and typing:

Stuff This

which will enable you to cycle through all the special tokens on offer by clicking the right-hand mouse button during play."

I'd forgotten that - but I do remember now that I found the game impossible without cheating.

Was there a Dekstop Hacker cheat?

I do, but surly someone would need to be asked first? I am not sure who would own the copyright - IDG Media, Tau Press or the authors of the articles.
