Jason Tribbeck, of
ArcCommand fame, has recently announced his latest game,
Equinox. It's a game in a similar vein to his ill-fated Starship Command clone, but this time without any legal hitches. Although originally started in 1994, a deeply nested bug hindered further progress until the project was restarted in 2002, around the same time as ArcCommand was cancelled.
Equinox is a top-down space shooter with a variety of level types and attractive graphics. Progress through the game is controlled by a 15x15 grid, where you are only able to progress to a new grid square (representing a single game level) if it is next to a square you have already completed. The current minimum requirements are a StrongARM RiscPC, with an Iyonix compatible version planned for the future.
Pre-beta testing for the game has now started, and since Jason is currently undecided if the game should be a commercial or freeware release, testing will be restricted to a limited number of people.

Just to say that the Iyonix version is now working as well as the RiscPC version. |

Trivial comment but are there any plans for music? |

If you look at the questions and answers, you'll find the answer out to that question. Specifically question (and answer) 5.

Look forward to it. Too little music in RISC OS games these days. |

All of my games have had music.
Not necessarily immediately, but sooner or later, it gets too quiet to play :)
