Toy Party screenshots

Posted by Richard Goodwin on 13:58, 15/3/2001 | ,

Promo ImageWe've just received some screenshots from in-development game Toy Party by Fantasia.

A riff on the N64 game Mario Party, the game will feature similar a similar gaming style, consisting of numerous subgames. However, Bill from Fantasia is keen to stress that it's not an out-and-out N64 clone, a lot of work has gone into making something with "its own unique character and variety of subgames".

Toy Party PromoGames range from the simple to the complex, ones requiring quick reflexes or quick thinking. It's a multiplayer game but there should be "sufficient AI for multiplayer fun". And if the screenshots accompanying this article have whetted your appetite, be aware that unlike some past games there will be support for a variety of resolutions and colour depths.

The game can run in [any] resolution (as long as the machine can handle it). There are 3 different gfx sets, low-res/8bit, low-res/32bit, and high-res/32bit. The first is suitable for 2MB machines. The later requires 16*times more memory, as well as a good deal of processing power.

So, on a 2MB VRAM RiscPC you should be able to run 640x400x32bpp screens, and talks are underway to see if this can't be improved for owners of Viewfinder cards. Future machines (such as the Omega, if we ever see it) should of course come with better graphics capabilities.
