Updates on TIB server and Unix ports

You might have noticed the problems we were having with the old server after a recent power cut, which eventually became so bad that we've had to bring the new server online ahead of schedule. This means a little more downtime when it gets moved to a proper hosting facility in London (which I've just been told might be this weekend). On the plus side we now have double the memory (1GB) and triple the storage space (160GB), and after the move a faster link with no power cuts!

Now for more positive news. We welcome the Lym and Natter projects to the new server.

Lym (Little Yellow Moon) is a shareware software producer, currently offering a rather nice Othello game called Desdemona for only four earth pounds. I thought I was pretty good at Othello after a few too many train journeys with only a smart phone to keep me sane, but this game kicked my ass. It does come with several modes though!

Natter is a shareware RISC OS instant messaging solution. Like a certain commercial product it provides access to MSN and ICQ messaging, with a host of features and more on the way. And the website looks very pretty.

And finally, this has nothing to do with TIB other than I read about it on the forums and the Playpen chatroom - Peter "Chocky" Naulls has updated his Unix webpage to let us know what's going on. He has a number of ports finished and in production, which he's thinking of releasing for free with a sort of shareware support scheme attached - if you want help, or just feel like giving something back for all the hard work, you pay a small amount that covers all the programs.

Never heard of Lym. Sounds interesting. Maybe this could be on Acorn Arcade.
What are their 'coming soon' games - will they be more board games?

The Natter website says it's shareware, costing £10, not freeware.
