The theme tune to 'Spellbinder' on the BBC is a pretty good cover of 'Midnight Summer Dream' by the Stranglers.

Also the theme music for Barbarian 2 on the BBC is a rip-off of the intro to Harold Faltermeyer's 'Axel F':

For comparison, here is the C64 version's music - by the late, great Richard Joseph:

In connection with The Chaos Engine, does this reference to "interactive music" in fact mean "context sensitive music", i.e. changes according to game events? (It's a long time since I played this one!)

I forget its name, but there was a game where you controlled a ball which rolled forever diagonally upwards and to the right. You had to avoid hazards and whatnot. Like a marble-themed ripoff of Zaxxon.

That had awesome music.
I am still trying to remember what this game was. The music I am referring to was on the title screen, rather than in the game itself. I think there may also have been a scrolltext.

CE is a top-down-perspective run-and-gun game, and the music generally changes according to the position you are at in the map. There's some slightly dodgy logic to make sure it always switches at the end of a phrase instead of abruptly halfway through a bar, but I've seen inside the Richard Joseph music player and AFAICT they just used a quick hack, which allowed one to cause the same pattern to loop forever by running back and forth across a certain invisible line on the map.

Just stumbled across videos of a couple of earlier BBC games with good music I have fond memories of playing:

Cowboy Shootout:

You lot might enjoy this:

Still intend to do a bigger piece on Beeb game music at some point, though.

I found it!

It was called BALLS.

It actually has two pieces of endlessly looping music, the awesome one on the title screen (accompanying the aforementioned scrolltext) and another, very short one, on the high score screen.

I highly recommend downloading it from Stairway to Hell and giving it a listen.

I just uploaded a recording of this to YouTube, so you LAZY people can listen to it without having to actually download disk image to play in an emulator.
