RISCOS Ltd secures further supplies of OTP ROMs for RISC OS 4 Production.

Following the sell out success of the latest version of RISC OS 4
(which was produced on a limited production run of 150 Flash ROMs)
RISCOS Ltd is pleased to announce that it has managed to secure
significant supplies of the OTP ROMs which were previously used to
produce the RISC OS 4.02 ROM upgrades.
Production of the OTP ROM parts by OKI was ceased two years ago and
it was thought that the current limited stocks held by RISCOS Ltd for
RISC OS 4 ROM production were the last available.
A chance conversation at a recent Trade Fair led to the discovery of
a large unused batch of ROMs held by a Far East manufacturer.
A sample ROM has been received and it is expected that the full supply
of ROMs will be received in the UK and cleared through customs by the
end of May.
The availability of the OTP ROMs will mean that the cost of the RISC OS
4.93 "Adjust" ROMs will be reduced from £125 to £115 for users upgrading
from RISC OS 4.0x to RISC OS 4.39 once supplies start using the OTP
ROMs. Other options for the purchase of RISC OS Adjust ROMs will also
be reduced by £10 at the same time.
Purchasers of the first Flash ROM version of Adjust will not lose
out from the future price reduction of RISC OS Adjust as they will
be entitled to a free Flash upgrade to the next version of RISC OS
Adjust within 6 months of purchase whereas OTP ROM purchasers will
regrettably have to purchase future updates as OTP ROMs cannot be
re-programmed.

development when Acorn Computers announced that it was pulling out
of the Desktop Computer market in 1998 with the cancellation of the
Phoebe Risc PC 2 project.
RISCOS Ltd was granted exclusive rights to the development and marketing
of RISC OS for the desktop market, whilst Element 14 concentrated on
becoming a silicon design business.
RISCOS Ltd launched RISC OS 4 in July 1999 and has since sold over 5,000
copies of RISC OS 4 as upgrades for existing Risc PC and A7000 users
and in new Desktop Computers.
