Cocognut hits 1.10

Alpha Programming has just announced a major upgrade to it's popular file sharing program, CocoGnut. This latest version fixes a number of erm, 'misfeatures' in the program and adds many new features as follows;-
  • Full upload support
  • Saves current downloads and searches for the next session
  • Socket protection (will not close a socket unless it's been opened)
  • Bugfix allowing downloads from more sources (especially GTK-Gnutella with PARQ enabled)
  • Less CPU intensive when not using upload functions
  • Various other small alterations
CocoGnut is a client thats makes use of the Gnutella network which has many clients available for most platforms. The Gnutella network is based on the peer-to-peer organisation. In a nutshell, this means that there are no central machines on the network and anyone who joins the network becomes part of it. No-one owns the Gnutella network, which means that it cannot be shut down by hackers or government organisations, unlike networks such as the original Audiogalaxy system, where clients such as the Satellite client for RISC OS are no longer usable.

CocoGnut is commercial software. It costs £15 (15 UKP) if paying by cheque or PO, or £16 (16 UKP) for credit/debit cards (processed by PayPal).

More information can found at the Alpha Programming website

Owners of CocoGnut should have received the latest update by the time they read this.
