Editing the Asylum

Posted by Andrew Poole on 10:50, 26/11/2002 | ,

AsylumJeffrey Lee has Emailed us to inform us that he has been having a hack about with Asylum and has come up with 'nobrainer', which he describes as "a nice and simple Asylum level/sprite editor."

Nobrainer can import export the level data and the sprites used in the game, allowing you to edit the levels, and gives the potential to create your own levels. The source code for nobrainer is included in the archive, so if it doesn't do what you want, you can make it do it.

Also included in the archive is a patch for fixing a glitch in the background sprites for faster machines.

The archive is available from Coders Cauldron, but Jeffrey hasn't made a website, so you will just have to follow this link and download it from there. Happy Asylum Seeking!

Update: A new version of nobrainer has been uploaded, and a website is on its way.
Update #2: The StrongARM patch has been found to be incompatible with version 2.00 of Asylum - to check if you have this version, load Asylum and choose 'Instructions' from the Iconbar menu; if you have version 2 it'll say so at the bottom of the instructions file. A new version is promised to be here in a few days.

Unregistered user Yep; the website *should* up tomorrow (there's a slight possibility it'll be delayed until Thursday). It will include a new version of Asylum, 2.01, bug-fixed by phlamethrower :-)

Unregistered user Yep, it's going up tomorrow. I'm a lazy bastard :-o

However, most of the work has been done; just some tidying up to do tonight.
