I think it will be a real shame to lose Riscos LTD and I think its a real shame that Paul Middleton has left. I think he is a real nice guy I have only met him a few times at the SW Riscos shows. He has helped me out loads of times and I brought a RiscTV card off ebay from him. It didn't work (old Acorn card etc). He fixed it for free and posted it back to me for free I will miss him. He is a decent guy!!! From David Heath

He's still a director according to companies' house. And what's going to kill RISCOS Ltd. is them being struck off the register for not filing accounts and returns.

Sounds to me like something needs to be announced and announced soon. Not exactly great PR is it in the short term?

The company is ceasing to exist, why would they care about PR?

Because a defunct company appearing 4th on Google on a search for "risc os" isn't great is it?

This forking about nonsense of the past ten plus years can be ended by having some certainty as to the future of the platform.

Perhaps I'm being too simplistic here, but surely the work that went into that fork can now be brought over to ROOL?

Or are we going to be picking over the scraps, due to NDAs and intellectual property laws?

Go on ROL, you know what to do...

http://www.bonavacantia.gov.uk/output/companies.aspx seems to suggest that the assets of defunct companies go to the Crown.

That said, I seem to remember Paul Middleton saying in the past that some parts of RISC OS Six were not actually owned by ROL. If that is the case, that complicates matters further.

I hope something can be done. Reading Justin Fletcher's RISC OS Rambles has brought into focus just how many improvements were made to the ROL fork. It would be a shame if those improvements were to be lost.

Nice idea but not likely to happen. I suspect the majority of shareholders of ROL see ROOL as part of Castles 'Evil Empire' and be prepared to let their sources rot rather than pass them over.

It would be a great shame, and hardly in the interests of the platform we all claim to support, if that were their reaction.
It is now quite clear that ROOL is the /only/ future RISC OS has, so the choice is between the code being lost for good, or going to the benefit of the remaining vital branch of RISC OS.
